EVRC (Speech Service Option 3) is a source codec and operates three different engines/rates depending on the source signal: full rate (8.3 kbps), half rate (4 kbps), and eighth rate (800 bps). The lowest rate is for background noise. The EVRC typical average bitrate is around 6 kbps.
