The G.711 codec was the first ITU-T recommendation on speech coding and was proposed to ensure international interoperability between carriers.
The G.711 standard also includes Appendix I for Packet Loss Concealment (PLC) and Appendix II for Comfort Noise Payload. The G.711 codec can operate in A-law or in µ-law.
The memory and CPU details are generic Standard specifications.
