G.729.1 is an embedded codec. The base layer is interoperable with the G.729 codec. Each additional layer provides a quality increase and wideband support. The G.729.1 bitrates range from 8 to 32 kbps. G.729.1 is interoperable with G.729, G.729A and G.729B.
